Episode 18: The Ice Climbers Cometh!


In a cave on a high mountain...


Two twins dressed in heavy blue and pink hooded coats were examining a strange purple rock.

"What do you think it is, Popo?" the female twin said.

"I don't know Nana, but being near it kind of makes me feel uncomfortable..." the male twin said.

Behind the twins, a mysterious robotic creature was watching them. Hearing of their discovery, the robot went outside to make a call....


Later, aboard the Great Fox...


"Okay Pit, try this!" Mario said, throwing some wooden targets into the air.

Pit then readied his bow, and shot every target with pinpoint accuracy.

"Nice job Pit! You did perfectly on your training excercise!" Mario said.

"Thanks Mario, but I'm getting bored." Pit said. "When am I going to go on a real mission?"

"Pit, we respond to missions only when there is one." Mario said. "It's been pretty peaceful for a while now."

Just then the ship's message alert went off, signifying that they had a call.

"You were saying?" Pit said.

The two then joined their fellow members in the center room, where Fox answered the call. On the screen came an old-looking penguin with green feathers wearing a brown hat.

"Hello? Is this thing on?" The penguin said. This was probably his first time using a machine to call the Smash Brothers.

"We read you loud and clear." Fox said. "What's the trouble?"

"*ahem* I am the mayor of Shiver City. I've called you because there's a disturbance on the mountains north of my town." The penguin said.

"What do you mean by 'disturbance?'" Fox said.

"Earlier today, I saw a black hole open up above one of the mountains. Something came out of it, and then it disappeared." The penguin said. "I think it would be best if you would check into this."

"Understood. Fox out." Fox said, hanging up. He then entered the coordinates for the planet. "So who's going?"

"I'll go! I'll go!" Pit yelled, raising his hand as if he were in school.

"I'll go too." Mario said.

"Me too." Link said.

The three then stepped onto the teleporter and warped to their predetermined location...


Later, on the Mushroom planet, near the Northern mountains...


Mario, Link, Pit, and the mayor stood near a very tall mountain.

"So you're sure this is where you saw the black hole?" Mario asked.

"Yes, right above Icicle Mountain." the Mayor said. "I know every mountain in this range by heart."

"Thank you." Link said.

The three then went up the mountain, Pit flying, Mario jumping, and Link using his Hookshot. After some time they made it to a cave.

"This is where the mayor saw something fall." Mario said. "You think it could have went in there?"

"Only one way to find out." Link said.

They then went into the cave. Inside, they heard loud voices and sounds, as if a big fight was happening in the cave.

"What's that!?" Pit said, covering his ears.

"Let's go see." Link said.

They went further in, and saw two short twins fighting a tall, dark-skinned man with orange hair. At the sight of the man, Link stood frozen in shock.

"No, it can't be!" Link said.

The man, hearing Link's voice, stopped his battle with the twins. "Well, Link. I didn't expect to see you so soon." the man said.

"Ganondorf..." Link said. "Why are you alive? How are you alive?"

"Don't sell yourself short Link. You came very close." Ganondorf said. "Only the slimmest of chances has allowed me to live."

"What are you doing here?" Mario asked. "And why are you attacking these innocent people?"

"Simple, they have something I want." Ganondorf said, pointing to the purple rock that the two twins held. "With that rock, entering and leaving Subspace will be as simple as saying a few magic words."

"You're not getting that rock, not if we have anything to say about it!" Pit said, readying his bow. Mario and Link then got into battle stances.

"I'm on a tight schedule, so I'll have to take a rain check on fighting you." Ganondorf said. "But feel free to play with these!"

Ganondorf then snapped his fingers, and a bunch of robotic creatures appeared out of thin air. Some were brightly colored and had glowing red eyes, while others were of darker colors and moved their arms as if they were punching someting.

"Like them? I call them Robotic Operating Battlers, or just ROBs. Have fun."

Ganondorf then grabbed the purple rock, said a few words, and then disappeared.

The ROBs then attacked the three. Mario fought the darker-colored ones, while Link and Pit went after the brighter ones.

"Take this, ROBs!" Pit said, firing many arrows at the Robs. They then shot at him with laser attacks coming from their eyes, knocking him down.

Mario punched and kicked the darker-colored ROBs, doing a good amount of damage to them. Just then one snuck up behind him and grabbed him.

Link sliced the ROB that attacked Pit, and then continued slicing the other ROBs. But then another one snuck up behind him and zapped him with an eye-laser.

Popo and Nana watched the whole thing from elsewhere. They were still tired from their battle with Ganondorf.

"They *huff* need our help, Nana." Popo said.

"But Popo, *huff* we're totally wiped out." Nana said.

They watched the battle for a few more seconds, and then they began to charge a cold, blue energy in their hands...

The darker-colored ROBs had Mario, Link, and Pit tied up with a strong metal rope.

"I never thought it would end like this, death by robot!" Mario said.

Suddenly, just before the lightly-colored ROBs could blow the three into oblivion, a big flash of light appeared, and all of the ROBs were covered in a thick sheet of ice.

"Huh? What was that?" Pit said.

They looked over and saw the two twins with their hands raised. The twins then fell over, and slept where they were.

"So they helped us..." Link said.


Later, aboard the Great Fox...


"...and for saving our lives, and for being able to hold your own against Ganondorf, we would like you make you, Popo and Nana, honorary members of the Super Smash Brothers." Link said, handing them special badges.

"Alright!" Popo and Nana said, giving each other a high-five.

Samus then walked over to Link. "So Ganondorf's back?"

"Yes, and I think it may have been him who made that deal with Dr. Eggman." Link said.

"But why did he want that stone anyway?" Samus said.

"I don't know, he said he wanted to use it to go to Subspace." Link said.

"Could he be trying to get that gigantic hand back?" Samus said.

"I don't know Samus." Link said. "I just don't know...."
