THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: THE STERN AND THE STRONG


Episode 6: Star in the Ocean


Link was sailing his boat in a direction specified by Zelda. He was looking annoyed because he still didn't see any sign of dry land.

Link: Zelda, are you sure we're getting close?

Zelda: Of course! I can feel it getting closer and- anchor right here!

Link dropped the anchor to stop the boat, and then looked around. He didn't see anything, no islands, no boats, not even a seagull.

Link: This is the middle of nowhere! There's nothing here!

Zelda: But I'm positive that I feel the Triforce. I'm seeing it in a cave and- wait I see something...

Link: Huh? What is it?

Zelda: I'm getting a stronger visual of the Triforce's location now that we're so close to it. And I see things flying... wait, no they're swimming. It must be underwater!

Link looked over the side of his boat to see the ocean. It was deep, dark, and dangerous too because he had to fight off a shark earlier. It became his breakfast.

Link: Great, how are we supposed to get it now?

Zelda: Look in your bag, there should be a blue version of your clothes there.

Link did so, and got out his blue clothes.

Link: Got it, but what's it do?

Zelda: These clothes were fashioned by the Zoras back in Hyrule. When you wear these, you will have all of the abilities of the Zoras, including swimming like a fish and being able to breathe and speak underwater.

Link: Cool! Thanks!

Link then put on the blue clothes, dove into the water, and suddenly he felt full of energy, as if he had taken his first breath ever. He began to swim around gracefully, going around various schools of fish and swimming under arches made of rock.

Link: Wow, this is awesome!

Zelda: Link, you have a job to do, remember?

Link: You're no fun...

Link swam down to the ocean's bottom, where he saw an underwater cave. Coming from it was some kind of faint light.

Link: That's gotta be the Triforce! I'm going in...

voice: Hey, can you help me?

Link looked in the direction of the voice, and saw a small yellow starfish creature. He looked confused and lost.

Link: Um, sure. What do you need?

starfish: I fell down from the Pufftop Kingdom, and I need to find the tower that will help me get back up.

Zelda: The Pufftop Kingdom? But that's all the way in the clouds! How did you get down here?

starfish: Wow, a talking rock!

The starfish was about to touch the rock Link was holding, when he was stopped by a voice.

voice: Hold it, Starfy!

Suddenly, a small yellow clam creature came out of the sand and swam over to the starfish.

clam: Starfy, don't you know not to touch talking rocks!? It could have been some kind of monster!

Starfy: Come on Moe, what could happen? It was harmless!

Moe: That's what you said about that jar!

Starfy: Well how was I to know that-

Link: Okay, okay, calm down guys! So, I guess that your name is Starfy...

Starfy: That's me!

Link: ...and your name is Moe?

Moe: Yeah.

Link: Okay, good. Now, I'd like to help you right now, but I have to go into that cave to get something powerful before someone else does. I'll be back later.

Starfy: Ooh, a cave adventure! Can We come?

Link: What? But you might get hurt! Who knows what's in there?

Starfy: I'm not scared! Are you scared, Moe?

Moe: No way!

Link: *sigh* Oh, alright. Just don't get in the way.

Link, Starfy, and Moe then swam into the cave, following the light. Link fought off creatures such as fish, octopi, and even a shark or two with his sword, while Starfy looked annoyed that Link wasn't letting him try fighting them off. After some swimming, the three finally made it to the room where the Triforce piece was held.

Link: There it is!

Starfy: Oooh, its shiny!

Link was about to grab the Triforce piece, when suddenly he was hit by a bolt of lightning! He fell to the seafloor, hurt and dizzy.

Link: What... was... that?

Moe: Oh no, he found us!

Link: What? Who found us?

Suddenly, into the cave swam an eel-like creature with sharp fangs and long pink hair. He had an evil look on his face as he pointed the tip of his tail at Link.

Starfy: Ogura!

Ogura: Well, if it isn't Starfy! I must remember to properly thank you for releasing me from that jar.

Starfy; That was an accident! And now I'm going to fix it!

Starfy then began to spin his body and launch himself at Ogura, catching him off guard and hurting him. Starfy continued his attack, hitting Ogura all over his body, until he fell to the seafloor, dizzy.

Ogura: Well, that's what you get for spinning around too much! Now, to claim the power I've been seeking out!

Ogura swam over to the Triforce piece, and then swallowed it! Link tried to stop him, but he was still hurt from Ogura's lightning. Ogura then began to glow, the Triforce's power coursing through him.

Ogura: Yes, I feel it, absolute power!

Ogura then swam away, leaving Link and the others alone. He walked over to Starfy, and helped him up.

Link: Are you okay, Starfy?

Starfy: Yeah, just a little dizzy. You?

Link: Other than a bruised ego, I'm fine.

Moe: Guys, Ogura's getting away! We've got to stop him!

Link: Right, plus he's got the Triforce! Now, he mentioned something about a jar...

Starfy: He must mean this one.

Starfy then held out a jar with an evil face on it.

Starfy: Ogura's an evil wizard who's tried to take over Pufftop Kingdom before. When he showed himself to be too strong, my dad sealed him up in this jar. But when I fell from the Kingdom, I accidentally opened the jar and let him out!

Link: So, how did you fall from the Kingdom anyway? And why were you in a place where an evil jar was anyway?

Starfy: Well, I, um...

Moe: We don't have time for twenty questions! We've gotta stop him!

Link & Starfy: Right!

The three then swam out of the cave, and then looked around for any signs of Ogura. They swam to the surface, and saw a large storm cloud up above.

Starfy: That's gotta be him! I didn't know he was this powerful...

Link: That's the Triforce piece giving him all of that power! We've got to get it out of him!

They swam toward the storm cloud, and narrowly avoided Ogura's lightning! They swam around gracefully, dodging every bolt Ogura threw at them. When they made it to the eye of the storm, that's where they saw him.

Ogura: MWAHAHAHAHA! With my new power, I shall take over Pufftop, then the world!

Moe: Well, good to know he has his priorities straight...

Link: How are we going to get up to him?

Starfy: Wait, I've got an idea...

Starfy then dove under the water until he hit the seafloor. He looked up, and got a determined look on his face.

Starfy: Time to spin higher than I've ever spun before!

Starfy then rapidly spinned his body upwards, launching himself like a missile! When he broke the surface, he launched himself high into the air, until finally colliding with Ogura, or more specifically his stomach.

Ogura: ARRRGH! Why you... you...

Ogura then felt himself needing to vomit. He did so, and out came the Triforce piece, which Link caught!

Link: Nice move Starfy!

Starfy: Thanks, I've been working on it for a long time!

Starfy then floated his body back down to the surface, while Ogura dropped like a rock. He made a big splash, and then floated on the surface, dizzy. When he came to, he was very, very angry.

Ogura: You shall pay for taking my power from me!

Ogura then dove underwater, with Link, Starfy, and Moe doing the same. Ogura pointed his tail at Link and shot a bolt of lightning at him, but Link sliced his sword and sent the bolt bat at Ogura, shocking him.

Starfy: Nice one! Now it's my turn!

Starfy launched himself like a living torpedo at Ogura once again, hitting him right in his face. Moe then jumped up, grabbed his tail by clamping his shell closed, and threw Ogura into a rock wall, knocking him out.

Starfy: I think its time for you to go home!

Starfy then grabbed the jar and sucked Ogura in. Once done, Starfy corked the jar, and held it aloft.

Moe: I could have done that...

Later, Link, Starfy, and Moe were on a tall tower, looking at a palace floating above the clouds.

Link: So when will your ride get here?

Starfy: Any second now...

Suddenly, a floating jellyfish creature came in front of them.

jellyfish: Moe, Prince Starfy, are you ready for your ride back home?

Starfy: Yep!

Moe: Totally, I've had enough for now...

Link was surprised at what he heard the jellyfish call Starfy.

Link: Wait, 'Prince' Starfy?

Starfy: Yep, I'm the prince of Pufftop Kingdom!

Starfy and Moe then got on top of the jellyfish, which then began to take them home, leaving Link behind. He grabbed the speaking stone and spoke to Zelda once again.

Link: Did you know he was the Prince?

Zelda: Yes, you just didn't bother to ask.

Link: Isn't this the kind of thing one should say up front? I mean, why all the secrecy?

Zelda: Come on Link, you didn't know I was a Princess when we first met.

Link: I was three! I barely knew what a Princess even was!

Zelda: Link, I think you need a break.

Link rolled his eyes and put the speaking stone back in his pocket. He then went back down to his boat and sailed off...
